I have been diligently working on a project to give senior citizens thoughtful gifts. In the first week of October, I distributed surveys to the residents and received valuable feedback. In conclusion, my project to give senior citizens thoughtful gifts is progressing well. I have received valuable input from the residents and support from Amy Venezia and other organizations. Additionally, my research shows that performing acts of kindness can positively impact an individual’s mental health, something I hope to achieve through this project. As I continue to reach out for donations and sort items, I am excited to bring a little joy and comfort to the seniors in need during the holiday season. Their responses show that gift cards and personal care-related items excite them.
Recently, I reached out to Amy Venezia, a representative from Wellsence, to discuss my project. I am delighted that Amy has generously agreed to contribute gift bags, dental kits, and other personal care items to our gift drive. With her support, I am confident that the senior citizens will receive gifts that will bring them joy and comfort.
During the past week, I have been researching the effects of giving on both the giver and receiver. While doing this, I came across a study by the University of Ohio that caught my attention. The study randomly assigned individuals exhibiting signs of elevated depression or anxiety to one of three groups: acts of kindness, social activities, or a brief intervention based on cognitive-behavioral therapy (specifically cognitive reappraisal). The study found that those who participated in acts of kindness experienced a significant reduction in their symptoms of depression and anxiety. Therefore, performing acts of kindness can positively impact an individual’s mental health and improve the well-being of those around them.
Today, I took the initiative to contact Servicelink, United Health Care, Granite United Way, the Family Resource Center, and the Littleton and Horse Meadow Senior Center to seek their assistance with a noble cause. In the email, I requested that the recipients donate and share their experience running a gift-giving campaign.
My goal is to collect personal care items for seniors, including everyday necessities such as toothpaste, shampoo, and soap. I plan to sort and distribute these items during the week of December 4th to positively impact the lives of seniors in need and bring a little holiday cheer to their lives.
